Areas of Practice & The Firm

The Law Offices of Charles S. Altman, LLC is a boutique law firm specializing in real estate, corporate transactions, complex litigation, property litigation, lender representation, foreclosure and appellate law. The firm is located in downtown Charleston on the second floor of the historic Altman Building, which once housed a family-owned furniture and appliance store. Altman’s Furniture opened its doors in 1928 and was well-known among Lowcountry residents. The business became an institution on King Street, and its closing (in 2005) marked the end of an era.

The Altman Building re-opened in 2008 with the same family name but a renewed purpose. Charles Altman, son of the original store owners, established a small law firm in 2006 that would carry on the Altman tradition of exceptional service. Altman believes that personalized service is essential to quality representation, and the firm’s office space is a constant reminder of high customer service standards—to the firm’s team and the community that they serve.
